Spa Opens in a 17th-century Monastery on the Amalfi Coast

Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa opens this Summer after a decade long restoration.  Owned by Bianca Sharma, the 20 ocean-view rooms retained its original vaulted ceilings.  the heated tepidarium located at the heart of its four-level spa, where Santa Maria Novella–designed pomegranate foot baths, aromatic powder scrubs and warm iris oil massages.  The gardens include bougainvillea, jasmine, mint, and rose—created by the same landscape architect who tends to the Vatican’s Papal Gardens.  Princess Charlene of Monaco was among the first guests of the location.

Yayoi Kusama’s Dots Infinity collection is a collaboration with Marc Jacobs that will be shown at Printemps Haussmann department store in Paris.  The exclusive pop-up store includes ready-to-wear  and accessories decked in red and black polka dots, celebrating Yayoi Kusama‘s famous works and her biomorphinc sculptures.

The Daphne Guinness Auction

The recent Christie’s Auction of The Daphne Guinness Collection Sold £476,800 / $744,285 / €595,523 June 27th, 2012.  The money went to Benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation.  The amount was a new world record for photographer Mario Testino, and designers Alexander McQueen, and Christian Lacroix at auction.

The great Daphne Guinness (know for her personal style) auctioned of parts of her extravagant wardrobe as a homage to her friend Isabella Blow who died in 2007.  Daphne, a fashion muse in her own right, has already been the subject of an xhibition at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and guest star in a window installation in Barneys New York.

The auction included pieces by designers like Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaïa, and Givenchy (in a size UK 8/US 6) and a selection of exclusive portraits signed by some of the biggest names in photography.

The Beauty of Sliced Diamonds

Coming from a family of jewelry collecting, Brooke Gregson, has put her gemology expertise to the test in her new line of sliced diamond rings. The diamond rings are set in yellow gold settings with smaller white diamonds set around them. The color that the sliced diamond give is unique and beautiful. The sliced diamonds are from a area with high density carbon and the slice includes the raw stone within it.
